TOPIC# 3
CYTOPLASM

CYTOPLASM

INTRODUCTION

It is the region between cell membrane and Nuclear membrane in Eukaryotic cell and it is the region inside cell membrane in prokaryotic cell because they lack Nuclear membrane It contain enzymes and salts important for different reactions in cell and it also contain RNA.

COMPOSITION OF CYTOPLASM:

Cytoplasm contain 70-90% water.Water is very important for all reactions in cytoplasm when water become less than 10% the cell become die because no reaction in absence of water.

The aqueous and soluble part of cytoplasm is called as CYTOSOL. It involved in storage of chemicals and it is also the important metabolic pathway because here respiratory reaction Glycolysis takes place.

This ground region of cell contain many important organelles like Endoplasmic reticulum, chloroplast(only plant cell),Mitochondria Etc.

Cytosol have two types of solution;

TRUE SOLUTION

This solution contain small molecules and it is present near to nuclear membrane.

COLLOIDAL SOLUTION

This solution contain large molecules and it have two types sol like(non aqueous) and may be Gel like (viscous). the outer region of cytoplasm means the region near cell membrane is gel like.

FUNCTION OF CYTOPLASM:

It provide place for storage of molecules.

Here important metabolic reactions occurs.

it is the home for different type of organelles.

it is involved in the streaming movement of mitochondria called as Cyclosis.

it contain a lot of enzymes important for different reactions.

IMPORTANT POINTS RELATED TO THIS TOPIC

Nucleus + cytoplasm is called protoplasm.

Nucleus + cytoplasm + cell membrane is called protoplast or in other word cell without cell wall is called protoplast.

And keep in mind protoplast word is only used for plant cell.

IMPORTANT MCQS IN THIS TOPIC:

1-The region inside the cell membrane in prokaryotes is called :

Answer: CYTOPLASM

2-The ground and soluble part of cytoplasm is called:

Answer: CYTOSOL

3-The cytosol contain how many percent of water:

Answer:70-90%

4-In cell which part act as storage material:

Answer: CYTOPLASM

5-Nucleus+cytoplasm+cell membrane is called :

Answer:ANIMAL CELL

6-A plant cell without cell wall is called:

Answer:  PROTOPLAST

7-Cell become die when water perecentage lows as:

Answer: 10%

8-The outer region of cytoplasm is called:

Answer: GEL LIKE

9-The cytoplasmic streaming movement of mitochondria is called:

Answer:  CYCLOSIS

10-In cytoplasm which metabolic reaction occurs:

Answer:  GLYCOLYSIS

11-Cytoplasm contain _ percent of DNA:

Answer: 0% note this question repeated so many times in different tests keep in mind DNA only present in mitochondria, chloroplast and Nucleus and because of DNA these three are also self replicatable.
